The Department of Education in Bidhannagar College was established in 2008. Currently, the Department is offering both Post-graduate and Undergraduate Honours Courses on the basis of Choice Based Credit system and newly introduced NEP with the intake capacity of 18 (eighteen) and 31(thirty-one) students respectively. In March 2024, the Department in collaboration with the Central Library Bidhannagar College has introduced and successfully completed a value-added skill-enhancing certificate course on Library Management for students belonging to any stream of Bidhannagar College.
The Department provides modern innovative methods for student enrichment such as invited lectures and seminars, blended teaching, PowerPoint presentations, peer teaching, team teaching, brainstorming, project work and excursions on a regular basis. The Department holds periodical parent-teacher meetings along with continuous evaluation of the student performance through various formative tests including class tests as well as presentations, viva, open book exams and double evaluation.
The Department regularly encourages its students for participating in various recreational and co-curricular activities such as Sports, cultural activities and N.S.S. programmes organized within or outside the college campus.
The pass percentage of the last three Academic sessions had been cent per cent at both PG and UG levels and most of the pass-out students have taken admission for further studies, in different reputed Universities all over India. Some of them have qualified in national level competitive exams such as CUET(PG), SET and UGC – NET Examination and received JRF scholarships awarded by UGC. Apart from private sector, 20% of the pass-out students are employed in the different State Government Services.
