The Department of Education in Bidhannagar College was established in 2008. The Department offers Undergraduate Honours Course on the basis of Annual Based Credit system. The Department provides the infrastructural facilities such as Departmental Library, Common seminar Library Room, three Computers with Printer and one common classroom with ICT facilities.

The number of sanctioned teaching posts is six in number. At present there are 5 permanent faculty members and one Part time Teacher. One of the senior faculty members holds Ph. D Degree. The rest of the faculties hold M.Phildegrees and are pursuing Ph. D from University of Calcutta.

The department has high teacher student ratio. The department provides innovative teaching methods for student enrichment like peer teaching, brainstorming, project work. Modern evaluation techniques are also implemented by the Department like Open book examination, regular class tests, and double evaluation. The Department holds periodical parent teacher meetings and gives necessary feedback. Moreover feedbacks and remarks are also taken from the parents.

The pass percentage of the last two Academic sessions had been cent percent of the students of the Department. 80% of the pass out students have taken admission in the PG Course, some of them in the University of Calcutta. 20% of the pass-out students are employed in the different State Government Service.

The Department regularly organizes recreational and extensional activities such as excursion, and co curricular activities. The students enthusiastically participatein Sports and cultural activities and N.S.S. programmes. The students of the Department of Education proudly won the Cricket Tournament, Intra College Premiere Cricket League 2014.

The Department of Education plans to introduce Smart Class, Faculty Exchange Programme and Departmental Publications, Guidance and Counseling Cell and P.G. Course.

Students here are always encouraged to participate in classroom teaching. Our aim is interactive learning rather than passive teaching. The students learn through exploration and self-activity. We believe in child-centric education and hence our students are our main priority. The curriculum is multi-faceted to suit the needs of different kind of students. We aim at providing responsible and well developed citizens to the society. Thus far we have been successful in this endeavour and hope to continue for years to come.
